Agnes Louise Houy of Fredericksburg passed away on Sunday September 8, 2019  in the Knopp Nursing and Rehab at the age of 82. She was born on December 10, 1936 in Fredericksburg to Ben O. and Elsie Itz Treibs. On March 14, 1959 she married Robert E. Houy.

She attended Klein Frankreich School near Fredericksburg, and Fredericksburg High School and graduated in 1955.

Over the years she worked for Dr Leon F. Zwiener Optometrist -- June 1955 - February 1959 -- Receptionist Homemaker -- March 1959 - September 1978 Northside Independent School District, San Antonio Texas 1978 to retirement in January 1993 food service.

Agnes' strengths were; Patience, Love, Kindness and Service, Self-Control, Harmony, Unity, Commitment, Relationships. She was a valued member of her church, school and community. Agnes was a Life long member of the Methodist Church, past memberships in United Methodist Women, and World Friendship Group.  She was awarded gold cross for tasks at St. John's United Methodist Church in San Antonio. Member of Parent-Teacher Association, Member of Pat M . Neff Middle School and Holmes High School Band Boosters Association.

Her Hobbies included Collecting Cook Books and especially enjoy baking. Cakes and cookies for church bazaars were always welcome. Collect Texas Bluebonnet items. She also enjoyed reading, travel, music. drama and theater, as well as working with hanging flower baskets. Dearly loved her family, friends and church.

Relocated back to Fredericksburg upon retirement was a delight and provided precious moments  with a new home, flowers, family and friends. Agnes made many sacrifices as a military spouse which comes with demanding situations while Robert served over 30 years.

Agnes is survived by her husband, Robert E. Houy of Fredericksburg; sons Stanley B. Houy, Dennis N. Houy and spouse Kimberly of Fredericksburg; daughter Janice G. Houy of Austin, grandchildren Anne-Marie and husband Matthew Shaver of Phoenix, Arizona, Travis Houy and spouse Amanda of Fredericksburg, and Rachael Houy of San Marcos; brother; Vernon Treibs and spouse Linda, Sister: Laverne Boos and spouse Kermit of Fredericksburg.

Visitation will be Tuesday September 10, 2019 from 5:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. in the Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Funeral service will take place on Wednesday September 11, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with Rev. George Lumpkin officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Houy, Vance Houy, Shannon Houy, Glen Treibs, Stephen Itz, Bryan Basse.

Memorials may be made to the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church Foundation, Votive Hospice or the Charity of your choice.
