Alfred Michael
Copell Iii
Apr 23, 1975 — Jan 17, 2022
Michael "Mike" Copell went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 17, 2022. Michael was born April 23, 1975 in Portland, OR. He attended school in Washington and Oregon, and became a Machinist.
Sometimes life works out in ways you never expect and in ways that you know only God could have made possible. Our Lord had two completely opposite, incomplete humans, living states away from each other, and put them together to create a whole unit. He is the only way to explain how a girl in Texas could meet and fall in love with a guy in Oregon. Michael married his wife, Kassidy, on February 12, 2012 in Fredericksburg, TX. While unconventional, theirs was a true love story.
On May 26, 1992, Michael welcomed the first of his three sons, Bradley Mitchell. He was followed by Tylor James on March 25, 1994 and rounded out his title as "Boy Dad" when his youngest son, Sean Michael, was born on May 5, 2010. While they had their ups and downs, Michael loved his boys so much, even if he wasn't comfortable expressing it very well.
As well as being a Husband and Father, Michael graduated to Grandfather on April 7, 2016 when Tylor and his wife Lada welcomed Dominick into the world. Michael and his grandson absolutely adored each other!
Michael loved his Denver Broncos and his New York Yankees. He was signed up to coach his youngest son's basketball team and was so excited about sharing his love of the sport with Sean and his friends.
An avid bowler, Michael became a member of the 300 club in 2004. He was active in several leagues and played tournaments every chance he could. His team members from his leagues were more than just teammates, they were his friends, and he looked forward to their weekly times together, and their yearly trips to Vegas.
Michael was a Deacon at Comfort Baptist Church and was instrumental in getting a livestream up and running so that God's message could be shared as far away as Australia. Many weeks ago, before he got sick, he told his wife that he wasn't afraid of death because he knew exactly where he was going and he was ready to be sitting in Heaven with his Lord. He felt that the Lord was calling him for something, he just wasn't sure what it was yet. Now we know the Lord did have big plans for him, they just weren't the Earthly plans we thought it would be.
Michael is survived by his wife, Kassidy Copell of Fredericksburg; Son Bradly Hinkle of Fayettville, AR, son Tylor Hinkle and his wife Lada, of Fayettville, AR and Sean Copell of Fredericksburg, TX; and his Mother, Lydia Baker Roberts of Thomasville, GA; And many, many friends who will miss him so very much.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 11:00am at Comfort Baptist Church in Comfort, TX with Pastor John Music & Pastor Jim Holt officiating.
