Allen Daigle's Obituary
Earl "Allen" Daigle of Fredericksburg, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the age of 83 with his family by his side. He was born on September 26, 1933, in Beaumont, Texas, the son of Earl Clifton Daigle and Hazel Irene Mabry Daigle.
Allen graduated from Beaumont High School in 1952. During his high school years, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow through Boy Scouts of Texas. Allen then entered Rice University, previously known as Rice Institute, and graduated with honors in 1956 with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering and and followed it up with his Masters in 1957.
Allen began his career at Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas. Within 5 years, he moved to Mobil Oil Corporation in Beaumont and was ultimately promoted to Manager of Economics and Planning for Mobil in Dallas, Texas. In 1976, Allen went into the independent oil business acting as President of Consolidated Petroleum Industries and later expanded to the banking industry where he was on the board of Consolidated Bancshares and Abilene National Bank in Abilene, Texas.
On November 20, 1980, he married Mary "Kay" Clark in Abilene, Texas and in 1983, Allen retired and he and Kay selected Fredericksburg, Texas to be there forever home together.
Retirement didn't last long for Allen, often commenting, "I am tired of watching the grass grow!". So he started writing computer code for various businesses in the community and for the Gillespie County Clerk's office. Allen sold the county program to many counties across Texas and ultimately sold his company, ALDA Systems, in 1996.
While in Fredericksburg, Allen served on the Hill Country Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees for 18 years working on various committees and also serving as Chairman of the Board. He was an active member in Rotary for 28 years, where he and his wife were both Paul Harris Fellows and made lifelong friendships. Allen was a member of the 5 Star Circle of the Admiral Nimitz Museum and was an avid believer in supporting the community he loved. He was also very active in the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church where Allen served as chairman of numerous committees and was a member of the church choir for 21 years.
Allen is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kay Daigle of Fredericksburg, daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Steve Bartholomew of Austin, and grandsons Brent Bartholomew and Clayton Bartholomew of Austin.
He is also survived by his only sibling, his sister Diane Kelly of Cedar Park, Texas.
A celebration of Allen's life was held at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church on Friday, September 1, 2017 with a reception that followed in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made in his memory to Hill Country Memorial Hospital or the charity of one's choice.
