Beverly Speer died on December 7th, 2025 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Beverly was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 15,1941. She graduated from Swissvale High School in 1958 and after high school attended business school in Pittsburgh. She then went to work for Prudential Insurance Company in 1959. She and Jim were married in 1961 and spent one year living in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania and then, in May of 1962, they moved to Dallas, Texas where they began careers and had two children. Once her children were out of elementary school, Beverly worked for Highland Park Presbyterian Day School in Dallas and then for several trucking companies. After 20 years of living in Irving, Texas, Beverly and Jim relocated to Fredericksburg, Texas and Beverly went to work for Frantzen, Kaderli, and Klier insurance company. She retired as Vice President of the Life and Health Insurance Department.
Beverly was an avid tennis player, distance runner and walker, and also enjoyed yoga. Most of all, she was a beloved friend to any and all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Jim. They have been a couple since their first date in March of 1955. They have been together for 70 years. She is also survived by her sister Paula Amelio of Wexford, Pennsylvania; her children, Renae Allyn Simmons of Broomfield, Colorado and Darrin James Speer of LibertyHill, Texas; her grandchildren, Trevor Simmons, Conor Simmons, Blakelee Speer, Darrin Speer II, Dawson Speer, and Gracie Speer; and two great grandchildren, Addilynn Stevenson, and Asher Speer.
The Lord is pleased that one of his flock has come home. A memorial service will be conducted for Beverly at Memorial Presbyterian Church on 601 North Milam, Fredericksburg, Texas on Saturday, December 20th at 2:00pm. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Knopp Retirement Center and Votive Hospice for their loving care of Beverly.
