Mrs. Bonnie Jean Gamel Keeter of Fredericksburg, Texas passed away on September 17, 2016 at the age of 88 years. She was born on March 30, 1928 in Ringling, Oklahoma; the daughter of Clarence D. Gamel and Crystal (Fikes) Gamel. Bonnie's father passed away from paratinitis when a calf kicked him in the stomach. Mrs. Gamel, and Bonnie shortly thereafter, moved from Ringling, Oklahoma to San Antonio, Texas when she was 7 years of age. They moved in with Ms. Gamel's father and mother, Amenzo Leonard and Alma Loretta (French) Fikes and soon after, Mrs. Gamel purchased a home for just the two of them. Bonnie attended Hillcrest Elementary, went on to Harris Jr. High, then on to the opening class of Burbank High School where she graduated and shortly thereafter went to work. She applied to, and gained employment, at the San Antonio branch of the Federal Reserve Bank in the Transit Department. After a few years of faithful service, she was promoted to department head of the check clearing department where she put in long hours. She enjoyed her time there and had a small group of women working under her supervision. While Bonnie was working at the Federal Reserve she met her beau Homer C. Keeter Jr. in San Antonio, started courting, and married thereafter on April 21, 1950. Bonnie and Homer stayed in San Antonio for another 15 years before she retired with 20 years of loyal service to the Federal Reserve Bank. Upon her retirement and Homer's retirement from the Texas Highway department,they moved to Richardson,Texas where Homer and his brother in law, Cliff Steinbring, started KAS Construction Company together. Homer continued his career in construction and Bonnie became a full time housewife who devoted her every waking moment to taking care of Homer.She was a wonderful,loving,caring and devoted wife to her soul mate. Bonnie enjoyed cooking, sewing, cleaning and her time she spent gardening. After closing KAS Construction, they moved from Richardson, Texas to their retirement home that Homer had constructed on their ranch. Bonnie spent her remaining days enjoying walks on the ranch, watching her hummingbirds and her deer, doing a little gardening, and also continuing to take care of her love of 66 years. Bonnie will be greatly missed by all of those who are left behind.

Bonnie was predeceased by her father, Clarence D. Gamel, her mother, Crystal Irene Gamel, brothers: Alfred Lyle Gamel and Raymond C. Gamel, niece: Mary Michael Mayo, and husband;Homer C. Keeter .Bonnie is survived by many nieces and nephews scattered across the United States.

A memorial service will be held for both Bonnie J. Keeter and Homer C. Keeter Jr. at Fredericksburg Funeral Home on October 15, 2016 at 2:30 in the afternoon with Rev. Michael F. Murray presiding. Afterwards, there will be a time of fellowship with some refreshments and drinks at the funeral home.
