Bruce Andrew Rode, child of God, passed away June 23rd at the age of 73.

Bruce was known for his love of his family and his family ranch. He spent most of his time in his retirement working around the ranch, taking care of his cattle and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Prior to retirement, Bruce had previously most notably worked on the Texas A&M Experiment Station, Farmers Grain and ending his career as manager of the Hill Country Community Printing Press. He was also a former volunteer fireman and officer of the Fredericksburg Fire Department.

Though he was known for being a man of few words, when he did speak it was powerful and meaningful. He loved with a passion fiercer than most that was only expressed in sweet select moments around his family. Bruce loved Jesus and knew that Jesus loved him. He could often be found either quietly reading in his Bible, devotionals, or prayer books.

In his free time, he also enjoyed watching football and TV with his family or finding projects to work on. He rarely complained about anything and was a strong guiding force as could be seen throughout his lifetime of projects and passions.

Bruce is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Carol Hannemann Rode of Llano; children Clarie Schulze and husband Mark of Boerne, Aaron Rode and wife Aggie of Adkins, Megan Gold and husband Jared of Llano, Jared Rode and wife Katelyn of Converse; 8 grandchildren Owen Schulze, Reid Schulze, Emma Schulze, Wyatt Rode, Charlotte Rode, Everett Rode, Abigail Gold, Rubin Gold; siblings Lester Rode, Doris Herbort, and sister-in-law Helen Rode.

Bruce was born August 13, 1952, in Fredericksburg to Aaron Rode and Helena Staedtler Rode. He was married Carol Hannemann on August 19, 1973, at Zion Lutheran Church of Fredericksburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Allen Rode, Bernice Seipp and Evelyn Jenschke.

The family will greet friends 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, June 30th, in Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

A celebration of life for Bruce Rode will be held Wednesday, July 1st, at 1:00p.m., in Bridge Church.
