Bryan Thomas Snowden was born March 8, 1929, the first child of Otho Bryan and Annabel
O'Connor Snowden. Bryan was born in Houston, Texas, and spent his childhood and young
adulthood in Houston. When Bryan was six years old, his mother was diagnosed with Hansen's
Disease, (Leprosy). It was a time before there was a cure for Hansen's Disease, and Bryan's
mother was removed from her home and her young children to be incarcerated in a "Colony" in
Carville, La. After WWII, and the development of sulfa drugs and antibiotics in general, she was
cured. That devastating life event was a major factor in Bryan's young life.
Bryan married Margie Snowden in December of 1948, and they had three children, Bryan
Charles, Robert Wayne (Bob), and Carla Ann.
In his lifetime, Bryan moved around following different career paths, and traveled both Nationally
and Internationally. Bryan was innovative and an entrepreneur, owning several businesses and
working and consulting for a number of major corporations. He and Margie raised their children
in the DFW area, but primarily in the area around Grapevine, Texas. From a young man until
near the end of his long life, Bryan greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting. Even after moving away
from the Texas Coast, his passion for fishing took him frequently to the Rockport area.
Bryan retired to the Texas Hill Country, eventually ending up in Fredericksburg. He and Jannean
Alexander were married in November of 1983, and lived the next 41 years operating several
businesses and thriving in life on property between Doss and Harper, Texas. Bryan had a strong
mechanical aptitude and had an extensive background in all facets of construction. He could
build and repair almost anything. He told his children "that if someone was smart enough to
build it, we ought to be smart enough to fix it." He often said there is no such word as "can't" !!
His knowledge of "how to" was extensive and utilized every day of his life. He became an
amazing rock mason later in life and built beautiful structures on the property. His talents were
limitless. By example, Bryan imparted his strong work ethic to his children, who are ever
grateful.
Bryan lost several family members prior to his own passing: his parents, Otho and Annabel
Snowden, his first wife, Margie Snowden, and two younger sisters, Patsy Stringer and Lynn
McShafrey.
Bryan is survived by his wife, Jannean, and his three children: Bryan C. Snowden (Linda),
Robert (Bob) Snowden (Karen), and Carla Russell (Dan); five grandchildren: Christine Webb,
Bryan Lance Pannell (Courtney), Celeste Kline Stone (Brandon), Keri Michelle (Shelley)
Snowden Simon (Jef), and Charles Clayton (Clay) Russell (Betsy); nine great-grandchildren:
Marissa Pannell , Bryan J. (Joey) Pannell (Caitlyn), Matthew A. (Tony) Pannell, Cody Webb,
Kyle Webb, Travis Simon, Taylor Simon, Jackson Stone, and Madison Russell; and three greatgreat-
grandchildren: Sophia Pannell, Liam Hunt, and Everly Pannell.
Bryan was a loved and cherished part of all of our lives, and we will miss him terribly. We know
he has moved forward touched by the Hand of God. And, we each and every one of us wish
him only the Best and God Speed in his Life Journey.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
