Obituary

Burleigh F Arnecke of Boerne Texas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 in Waco Texas. Burleigh was born on January 1, 1934 to Fred and Olivia Arnecke in Kerrville, Texas. Burleigh graduated from Tivy High School in 1952. During his years at Tivy he played football and was named to the 'All State' team as a center. Burleigh was highly recruited by several Southwest Conference schools and ultimately accepted a scholarship to SMU where he majored in Personnel Management. While there he continued to enjoy success on the football field being selected to play in the Blue/Grey Bowl game. Burleigh played all four years of college. Graduating in 1956 he then enlisted in the US Air Force and served three years of active duty attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He then served in the Texas Air National Guard and retired as a Lt. Colonel. Burleigh worked for ten years as auditor and safety engineer for a major insurance company in Dallas TX before moving to Texas Utilities becoming the Director of Risk Management until his retirement from the workforce.

Burleigh was a self-proclaimed 'piddler'. He was always finding things to piddle with. He enjoyed walking, and being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. But his greatest joy was traveling with his wife of 59 years Jeslyn Sue. They had many great adventures throughout the world and visited many countries. But he never grew tired of visiting New York City, Maine or Hawaii.
