In the fall of 1945 Claribel started at the law offices of Agnes Sagebiel in the land title abstract company under the supervision of Edith Sagebiel. She was involved in creating a complete title abstract plant for the business. Her main job was keeping the abstract plant up to date by working in the Gillespie County Clerk's office and transferring all land title information to cards to add to the abstract plant . She worked full time until her first child was born and then became a full time hausfrau". Four children were born within five years and although that should have been enough to keep her busy she found time for Friday morning league bowling, PTA, PTA Cookbook Committee, and joined the Genealogical Society. After all of the children were old enough to be in school her former employer asked her to come back to work at the Sagebiel Law Office. Later, when the abstract plant was sold to Fredericksburg Title Company she went along with the plant and became an integral part of that title company until 1993 when she retired. After working 35 years with title work in Gillespie County and her great memory for details she became known for her vast knowledge of not only property information but of all things historical in Fredericksburg and Gillespie County as well as genealogy of not only her and her husband's ancestors including Hannemann, Wilke, Ahrens, and Sagebiel, but of many of the families in the county.

Claribel was active in the life of Zion Lutheran Church where she became a member after she married Wally. She served as a greeter, altar guild member, a member of the mixed choir, Women of the ELCA and served as treasurer for many years of the WELCA

She was an avid seamstress sewing clothes for herself and her family and enjoyed counted cross stitch and knitting . In the years after retiring she created counted cross stitch Christmas stockings that will be treasured by her children, grandch i ldren, and great-grandchildren, but was forced to stop creating them when her eyesight prevented her from seeing the intricate stitching charts .
