C.W. (Cyrus Wilford) Yeats died at his home in Fredericksburg, on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at the age of 83 years. He was born in Houston, TX on July 30, 1933 to Rev. E. M. (Eddie) and Lucille Sheffield Yeats. He is survived by 2 sons:
Richard Yeats, of Houston, TX and
Greg Yeats, of Gainesville, FL; 4
grandchildren: Chad Yeats, Justin
Yeats, Greg Yeats, and Jamie Yeats
Henke, and a sister, Elsie DeWitte of McGregor, TX. He is also survived by special friends, Nancy Rodriguez, Mike Jenschke, John Crittel and other friends of "The Liars Club," who met most mornings at Whataburger, eating breakfast together, while trying to see who could tell the wildest tale of the day; also, the Klimple family sisters of Lindig's Cafe: Sabrina, Linda and Lisa, along with their spouses, who adopted C.W. as part of their family by sharing holidays with him, and helping to nurse him back to health with food from the restaurant, after he got out of the nursing home; and last but not least, his church family from Calvary Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Katherine Yeats Froberg and two sisters, Violet Walters and Francine Brown. C.W. never knew a stranger. He was definitely a "people person," striking up a conversation with anyone he met. He lived life to the fullest, loved to joke with people and enjoyed quite a few accomplishments during his lifetime. He was a pilot, a deputy constable in Harris County, a Fireman in Houston, an ambulance driver for a funeral home in the Houston area, raised animals for a circus, raised and sold snakes and had a trailer full of reptiles which he exhibited to the public for a fee. He also worked for oil companies in Louisiana and Texas, was a Government trapper on the King Ranch, and for a short time, worked at Gillespie Livestock Auction and the Mason Auction Barn. For approximately the last 20 years, he was known by many in the Fredericksburg area as one of the local locksmiths and had been a member of the Locksmiths Association of San Antonio (LASA) for a number of years.
He loved animals and was an avid hunter in his younger years, enjoying many hunting trips with his dad and friends.
Following his wishes, his body was cremated, and a memorial service will be held at Calvary Pentecostal Church, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
