Mrs. Travis Jones nee Darlene Miller passed away on November21, 2019.

Mrs. Jones was born on Dec. 23, 1932 in Cyril Oklahoma to Ernest R. and Dona Picket Miller. She grew up in New Mexico and West Texas. On June 15, 1951 she married her childhood sweetheart, Travis Jones at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Las Cruces NM.

She embarked on a lifetime adventure while Travis served in the USAF and taught at the U.S. Army Guided Missile School at El Paso TX.  The family moved to Montrose, Colorado where Travis accepted an engineering position with a rural electrical association.

They bought an old sheep ranch in order to live in the country and keep the boys busy. The ranch had an unexpected capacity of 1,000 sheep. After 18 years , Travis left REA to devote full time to the ranch and became active in the Colorado Wool Growers who elected Darlene to the Board of Directors and Chair of State Lamb Promotion.

Her sons, who were active in the Future Farmers of America on the state and national level, honored her when she was elected "Chapter Mother of the Year". She also chaired the Montrose County Republican Party, but – never too busy to have her family in Sunday School and church.

In 1989 she and Travis sold the ranch and brought 126 head of Rambouillet sheep to Fredericksburg to continue his breed improvement program.

Her gentle yet undivided devotion to her Savior, Jesus Christ , was seen and respected throughout her life, truly a lady of dignity , grace and enduring beauty. Those who knew her couldn't help but love her. She was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.

A son Steven Travis Jones preceded her in death. From the pangs of birth to the years of caring , loving, and praying for that child left a heart filled with broken glass of vanquished dreams, and the angels wept. Life went on as she continued to be a blessing to her family.

She is survived by her husband Travis Jones, a son Dr. Ted C. Jones and his wife Cherie their two daughters, Teddy Ann and Audrey Beth and their families.

Darlene's time came to an end with 68 years of marriage and a lifetime of fond memories.

The family has elected to have a memorial service at a later date.
