Obituary

Rev. David F. Ebert, age 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 22, 2021. He was born August 31, 1933, in Dallas, Texas to Arthur and Mary Ebert. David was baptized October 15, 1933 at Zion Lutheran Church, Dallas, TX. He was confirmed in his faith in 1947, at Zion Lutheran Church, Dallas, TX. David attended High School at Concordia College (now Concordia University, Texas) and graduated May 26, 1950. He then attended St. John's College, in Winfield, KS prior to attending Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO. He served a vicarage at Our Savior in Mankato, MN, and graduated from the Seminary in 1957. On July 14, 1957, David married the love of his life, Audrey Wutzke, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND. He was ordained into the Holy Ministry on August 18, 1957 at his first congregation, Our Savior, El Dorado, Arkansas.

Throughout his 40 years of ministry, Rev. Ebert served the following LCMS parishes: Our Savior, El Dorado, Arkansas; Where he also began Faith, Magnolia, Arkansas (1957-1963); St. John, Hamilton, Texas; Where he also served the congregation at Faith, Stephenville, Texas and part-time at Immanuel, Pottsville, Texas (1963-1972); Dual parish of Faith, Fort Stockton and Immanuel, Rankin, Texas (1972-1974); St. Paul, Plainview, Texas (1974-1977); Trinity, Sealy, Texas (1977-1990); St. John, Lincoln, Texas (1990-1998) During his ministry, Rev. Ebert shared Christ in 26 Lutheran congregations throughout Texas. He also served the Texas District as Circuit Counselor for five circuits and served as Chairmen of the Committee on Constitutions for the Texas District.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Ebert, his sister, Ruth, and an infant brother, Benjamin. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Audrey Ebert of Fredericksburg; three children: Kathy Ebert of Fredericksburg, Dan (Karla) Ebert of San Antonio, and Tim Ebert of Dallas; and two grandchildren, Matt (Ashley) Ebert of College Station, and Nick Ebert of College Station.

Funeral services for David Ebert will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 27 th , in Resurrection Lutheran Church. The family will greet friends 8-10:30 before the service in church. Graveside services will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Bible Translators, or the charity of one's choice.
