Obituary

David Wayne Peterson was born June 20, 1954 in Austin, Texas, to Howard Leon and Hilda Janette Burklund Peterson. He was baptized at Palm Valley Lutheran Church, Round Rock, on October 31, 1954, and affirmed his baptism in the rite of confirmation at Ascension Lutheran Church, Austin, on June 2, 1968. He married Carolyn DeAnne Boatright on June 21, 1975 at

Crestview Methodist Church in Austin. David was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of McCallum High School where he excelled in academics and sports. He received his degree in Electrical Engineering in 1976 from the University of Texas,  Austin ,  where  he  specialized  in  Power Systems/Electric Utilities .

David was a Registered Professional Engineer and was the Director of Engineering & Operations at Central Texas Electric Co-op, Fredericksburg. His first job was at West Texas Utilities (San Angelo) then Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative (Giddings) and also the LCRA. He was past president of the Electric Cooperative Engineering Association of Texas, and a member of several professional boards and committees. He served on the Fayette Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, was a member of the Giddings Breakfast Lions Club, and was a life member of the University of Texas Exes. David was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg.

David raised his  family  in  Giddings  before  moving  to  Fredericksburg  in 2003 , living an incredible life, loving his family deeply, working hard, and being  a  role model  to  all  who  knew  him.   He   was   " Po po"   to   his grandchildren; he was " our knight in shining armor ." He enjoyed hunting, golfing, reading, engineering projects, yard work , family gatherings, and spending   time  with  children   and grandchildren.

David died on August 19, 20 l 7 at the age of 63. He is survived by his wife DeAnne; daughters Tiffany Melcher and husband Toby of New Braunfels and Monica " Missy" McKeever and husband Josh of Lubbock; grandchildren Trinity & Tristan Melcher and Lola & Peyton McKeever; his mother Janette Peterson of Round Rock; sisters Cyndi Piland and husband Dudley of LaGrange , Molly Burrough and husband Paul of Weather ford ; brother Robert Peterson of Johnson City; numerous aunts , cousins, nieces & nephews who will miss him dearly.
