Dorothy Eckert of Stonewall passed away November 1st at the age of 101.

Dorothy is survived by her children Patsy Slovacek and husband Patrick of Austin, Jimmy Eckert and wife Cathy of Fredericksburg, Rodney Eckert and wife Denise of Sunrise Beach; 6 grandchildren: Tara Gallaspy, James Slovacek, Neal Eckert, Cole Eckert, Louis Eckert, Erin Eckert and 13 great- grandchildren.

Dorothy Eckert was born September 30, 1924, to Rev. G.H. and Louise Wiese Houy. After graduating from Fredericksburg High School, Dorothy attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College and then started her teaching career. She married James Ewald Eckert June 8, 1947. She retired from teaching in 1985 and enjoyed staying at home, gardening, flowers, quilting, volunteering at church, Hospital Auxiliary and in the community, but most of all having her grandchildren come and spend the day.

The family will greet friends 4-6 p.m., Wednesday, November 5th, in Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, November 6th, in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with Rev. David Priem officiating.

Graveside services will follow in Stonewall Community Cemetery.
