Bertha Eckert passed from her earthly life to her heavenly home on June 13, 2023, in Boerne, Texas. She was born on February 13, 1937, in Agua Dulce, Texas to Ralph and Edith Standlee. After farming in surrounding locations, her family settled in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Bertha earned a BA degree in Elementary Education from Texas A & I University in Kingsville, Texas, returning to the Valley to teach in the public school system. She met and married George Eckert in 1961, embraced military life, and left the Valley. However, following George's active-duty retirement, they returned to care for extended family and Bertha resumed her teaching career. Retirement brought them to the Fredericksburg/Boerne area of Texas, where they were active in church and senior social activities.

Predeceased by her parents and brother, Ralph Standlee Jr., Bertha is survived by George, her husband of almost 62 years, her son, David (Lori), her daughter, Shari Bacon (Dave), six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Although saddened by her earthly absence, Bertha's family rejoices in the knowledge that she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, joyfully worshipping Him forever.

A funeral service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Texas, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023.
