Edward Earl Earp, Jr. passed away September 16, 2022, at the age of 96 to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Edward was born in Gorman, Texas, and grew up in the Houston area, enlisting in the Army Air Force right out of San Jacinto High School in October of 1943.  Earp trained to be a pilot and served as a military policeman while he awaited his turn to fly overseas.  The war ended, and he was honorably discharged in November of 1945, and went on to graduate from the University of Houston with a Bachelor's of Science in Architecture in 1950.  He also met the love of his life, Dorothy Annette Baas, and stayed happily married to her until her passing, almost 56 years later.    Earp worked as an industrial architect for Bechtel Power Corporation for over 30 years, and at the same time served as a deputy with the Harris County Sheriff's Department, flying for them, conducting patrol, moving prisoners, and promoted to Detective.  Upon retirement from Bechtel and the Harris County Sheriff's Department, Earp moved to Fredericksburg, Texas, where he cofounded the first 100 Club for Gillespie County, and served on the board until his death.  He also continued to serve as a reserve deputy, this time for Gillespie County, for over 20 years.  Edward was an avid military historian and hobbyist.  Edward Earp, Jr, led a life of service and generosity to others and enjoyed many close family ties and wonderful friendships, including a 30-year friendship with Teresa Wilke, who supported him and his wife through some of their hardest times.  He is survived by his sons, John Slavinsky, and John Muirhead, as well as many other cousins and loved ones.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm Tuesday September 20, in Fredericksburg Funeral Home, as well as 9-10 am Wednesday, September 21, in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at 10 am, with Rev. David Priem officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Chosen Peoples Ministries, International Fellowship of Christians & Jews, Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, 100 Club of Gillespie County, or the charity of one's choice.
