Evelyn Rose passed away Saturday, February10th, at the age of 84.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Rev. Clarence Rose of Fredericksburg; son, Mark Rose & wife Kim of Houston; daughter, Ruth Rose of Valley Mills; 2 grandchildren: Matthew Rose & Cody Reeves; 3 great grandchildren Brayden and Austin Rose and Charlee Reeves; sister, Ethlyn Held & brother, Harold Fiedler.
Evelyn Olga Rose was born September 6, 1933, in Fredericksburg, to Lionel & Olga Walter Fiedler. She had 6 brothers: Marvin, Harold, Walter, Melvin, Werner & Elmer, as well as 2 sisters: Lucille & Ethlyn. Her mother died the day she was born & with 8 siblings, her father decided to allow her uncle & aunt, Charles & Salome Walter to take Rose into their home. Legal adoption was finalized 18 years later. She was preceded in death by her parents, her adoptive parents, 5 brothers, 1 sister, grandson Michael Rose & daughter Carolyn Rose.
Evelyn married Clarence Herbert Rose, August 22, 1954, in Bethany Lutheran Church, the first couple to be married in the new Bethany Lutheran Church, which had been dedicated only the Sunday before.
Rose led an active life. In the summer of 1951 she worked at the Fredericksburg Hospital & Clinic. She worked for a year at Wartburg Press in Columbus, OH & she was a secretary for Monarch Tile in San Angelo for 5 years.
In her personal life she was organist at St. James Lutheran in Harper, Calvary Lutheran in San Angelo & substitute at St. John in Bartlett. She was active in church women's organizations including choir, quilting groups & Bethany Lutheran Church Council. She was a volunteer at Hill Country Memorial Hospital in the Medical Records Dept. She loved to cook, sew & work in the yard.
The family of Evelyn Rose will greet friends 10-11 a.m., Friday, February 16th, in the Fellowship Hall of Bethany Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary of Bethany Lutheran Church. Private interment of her ashes will occur at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Bethany Lutheran Church, or the charity of one's choice.
