Galand Karl Crenwelge was born Christmas morning 1978 (the 2nd of 3 children) in Bellville, Texas to Wilfred & Michele Crenwelge.

At 3 years old, Galand began his education at the Episcopal preschool, along with his older brother Wesley, in Hempstead, Texas. In 1983, the family moved to Saudia Arabia, where he attended Saudia Arabia National Guard (SANG) Preschool. The following year, he entered Kindergarten at the International School and, in 1985, before the school year was ended, he and the family moved to Jacksboro, Texas, where he completed his Kindergarten year. While in Jacksboro, Galand was very proud to have been involved with the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Gifted and Talented Number Sense program. In August of 1990, he and the family moved to Lubbock, Texas, where he attended Frenship Independent School District in Wolfforth, Texas. It was here that he would meet David Johnson, who was to become his best friend for the remaining 33 years of his life. Due to his impressive intellect he was placed in Advanced College Calculus Classes as he was not being challenged with the High School level classes. He was involved with Chess club, JETS (Jr. Engineering Technical Society), Track, Football, just to name a few.  Galand graduated from Frenship High School in 1997 and began taking classes at Texas Tech University with an aim of a double major in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

While in Lubbock, Galand discovered a talent search looking for models from across the US. Over the course of 3 years, he would try out each year in hopes of becoming a world-famous model. While pursuing this dream, he worked various jobs, which included Grandy's Restaurant, Eckerd Drug, AT&T call center, a local lumber company, & Challenge Games in the South Plains Mall, where he gained substantial notoriety in the gaming community for expertly serving as Dungeon Master for 2 Games, of Dungeons & Dragons, simultaneously. Galand enjoyed brief but proud local fame at the bars around town, performing Karaoke rap as "Skittles". In 2005, Galand put his education on hold to pursue his dream of being the lead singer of a music band in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, along with 6 other young men. After his dreams in the music industry came to an abrupt halt, before they ever really got started, he returned to his family in their new home in Joshua, Texas just south of Fort Worth. There he worked at a coffee packing plant called Mother Parker's followed by a meat packing plant called Five Star Custom Foods. In 2011, Galand moved in with his sister and grandfather in Midland, Texas to pursue a career in the Criminal Justice System. He worked at the Smith Unit in Lamesa, Texas for the next 4 years where he made many friends. Following a foot injury, while on duty, he took a leave of absence but was never able to return to work. He spent the remainder of his life in Fredericksburg, Texas. At the age of 45, shortly after 6:00 am on the 23rd of February 2024, Galand was found deceased in his bed (Cause of death yet unknown).

Galand had a life-long interest in computers and writing computer code. The Jerry Rice and Joe Montana era made him a faithful San Francisco 49ers fan. One of his biggest disappointments was that the 49ers lost the Super Bowl this year. Galand also had a love of the science fiction and fantasy genre with aspirations of publishing his own book one day. He was an avid Star Wars Fan and there was no aspect of the franchise he could not tell you about. He took great delight and wonder in feeding the 20-30 deer, out of his hand, and hummingbirds and songbirds that came to the house.

He also took great delight in cooking for family and friends. His most treasured recipes being first his own version of chicken fried rice and second taco meat.

He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents: Gilbert & Flora Crenwelge of Fredericksburg, Tommy Dale & Verna Jean Dawson of Midland, Aunt Florence Rogers nee Crenwelge and her husband Tom Rogers of Fredericksburg, and his beloved dog Coco.

He is survived by his parents: Wilfred & Michele Crenwelge of Fredericksburg; brother Wesley Crenwelge & sister Marisa Crenwelge both of Fredericksburg; his uncles and aunts: Gerald Crenwelge, Dennis & wife Carolyn Crenwelge, Arleen Crenwelge, Rodney & wife Kathryn Crenwelge, Keith Crenwelge; and Linda & husband Paul Breen; cousins: Sidney Crenwelge and children Lucy, Alice, & Charlie; Cora & husband Nate Silva and 2 kids Perrin & Leo; Calvin Crenwelge; Dustin Crenwelge; & Ashley Crenwelge.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Zion Lutheran Church, or the charity of your choice.

Graveside services for Galand Crenwelge will be held Thursday, February 29th, at 2:00 p.m., in Christ Lutheran Cemetery at Cherry Spring.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 1st, in St. Mary's Catholic Church.

A reception will follow in the fellowship hall of Zion Lutheran Church.
