Helen Allred passed away January 19th at the age of 89.

Helen Ruth Hahn was born February 12, 1936 to Felix and Esther Hahn. She attended 1st through 8th grades at Squaw Creek School, graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1954 and attended Texas Lutheran College 1954-1956.

Helen met James V. Allred April 14, 1956 as they each were wedding attendants in the same ceremony. The couple soon married August 18, 1956 and lived in San Antonio for two years while James served at Lackland Air Force Base.

Their first daughter, Sharon Ruth was born June 26, 1957 and after moving to the family ranch near Doss, Texas, the couple built their home and in 1961, twins Janet Lynn and Joyce Ann were born. While living on the ranch, Helen served as a wife to James as they farmed, ranched, and managed a hunting operation while raising their girls.

Helen was involved in all aspects of membership in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, including Women of the Church, Altar Guild, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. Helen also served as the girls' Girl Scout leader, sewed many of their clothes, and supported their academic and musical interests.

After their daughters completed their college education, James and Helen transitioned to Lake Buchanan and established A-Tex Bonding in 1986. After her husband's passing in 1997, Helen continued managing the business until 2008. During those years, she eventually moved to Fredericksburg where she served on the church council and was active in the Lydia Circle at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.

In 2010, Helen moved to the Marble Falls area where at various times she lived with her daughters and resided in assisted living.

Helen easily made acquaintances during later years. She enjoyed phone calls, the Fredericksburg Standard, the Holy Ghost Newsletter, Pastoral visits, online church broadcasts and bingo with fellow residents.

Family and friends will always remember Helen as a prayerful, faithful woman, mother and friend. She appreciated and always expressed gratitude to those who made her later years peaceful and comfortable.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Felix Hahn and Esther Beyer Hahn, her brother, Felix Hahn Jr., her husband, James V. Allred and son-in-law Robert Ryan Rivers.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Sharon Rivers, Janet Stehling (Nathan), and Joyce Hoagland (Paul). Helen is also survived by her six grandchildren, Jennifer Stumbaugh, Matt Rivers, Kristen Neff, Morgan Riebock, Erik Van Der Meulen, Katie Ault. And her ten great grandchildren, Cade, Luke, and Madison Stumbaugh, Bradlee and Bobby Rivers, Rhett and Hollyn Riebock, Carter Lynn Ault, Carys and Eira Van Der Meulen.

Funeral services for Helen Allred will be 1:00pm Wednesday, January 21st, in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with Rev. Jan Unger officiating. Graveside services will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Matt Rivers, Justin Stumbaugh, Nathan Stehling, Paul Hoagland, Jordan Ault Davin Reibock and Jonah Neff.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Samaritans Purse, Holy Ghost Lutheran Church or the charity of one's choice.
