Mr. Herbert Edwin Ahrens was born on August 7, 1925 in Gillespie County, Texas and died at his ranch home on Tuesday January 2, 2018.

He Married Violet Jean Rahe on September 9, 1950 in Gillespie County and to that union were born two daughters, Linda Ahrens of Arlington TX, and Sharon Ahrens of Boswell Oklahoma. He is also survived by one grandson Ty Martin and his wife Tara of Bennington Oklahoma.

The life of Herbert Ahrens began in Gillespie County TX in 1925. He spent most of his youth in Roosevelt TX and moved back to Gillespie County after his military service in the Navy and he remained there until his final day . He was a successful rancher throughout his life. His life was pure, simple and honest. He enjoyed hunting and his lifelong membership in the Pecan Creek Community Club and playing High-Five. His word was his bond to all who knew him. He remained in his beloved home and fed his sheep and cattle on his final day at the ripe old age of 92.

Herbert is survived by 2 daughters: Linda Ahrens of Arlington; Sharon Ahrens of Boswell, OK; grandson, Ty Martin & wife Tara of Bennington, OK.

He is preceded in death by his wife Violet Rahe Ahrens and brothers Milton and Arnold Ahrens.

Funeral services for Herbert Ahrens will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 10 ^th , in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home, with Rev. George Lumpkin officiating.

Graveside services with military honors will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

The family will greet friends 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, January 9 ^th , in Fredericksburg Funeral Home.
