Irene Balero Herrera of Fredericksburg passed away on September 13, 2026 at the age of 99. She was born in Luckenbach TX to Teofilo Balero and Thomasa Medrano Balero. She married Ramon Herrera on October 14, 1949 in Colorado City TX.

She is survived by her children Donato Herrera and wife Zendaida of Snyder TX, Raymond Herrera of San Antonio TX, Joe Herrera and wife Juanita of Fredericksburg TX, Martha Rivera and husband Alvino of Fredericksburg TX, Louisa Herrera of Fredericksburg, David Herrera and wife Tricia of Fredericksburg; sisters Nancy Aber and Anita Sosa; brother Thomasa Balero; 11 grandchildren 22 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her Husband Ramon Herrera; sons Urvano and Robert Herrera; Grandson Samuel Herrera; daughter-in-law Josefina, as well as 7 siblings.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday September 23, 2026 in the Fredericksburg Funeral Home from 11:00a.m. – 6:00p.m. with a Rosary starting at 6:00p.m.

Mass will take place on Thursday September 24, at 10:00a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with entombment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be John Herrera, Dan Herrera, Daniel Rivera, Robert Herrera, Joseph Herrera, Urvano Herrera. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Methodist Hill Country Hospice or the charity of one’s choice
