Janice
Spaeth
Mar 22, 1937 — Jan 16, 2024
Janice Spaeth of Harper was born on March 22, 1937 to Lillie and Alfred Spaeth. Janice passed away at the age of 86 peacefully in her home on January 16, 2024.
Janice was a woman of many talents and strengths. Just to list a few: teacher, Aunt, historian, friend, story teller, great Aunt, rancher, sister, quilter and great-great Aunt.
Although not having any children of her own, she played a big role in her family. She loved them well and was such an amazing example of love to them. She loved the Lord and served Him in St. James Lutheran Church of Harper TX most of her adult life. Janice thrived in her church family especially helping make quilts for disaster relief. She did many things for and through her church. She loved to help others and showed God's love in that way.
Teacher, was her working career, a home education teacher. It was there that she honed in on the skills of her crafts. She developed great patience and was terrific leader to many students.
Janice spent countless hours talking with relatives and gathering all the research she could on our family history. It brought her great joy to tell stories of her growing up years. She would also love to talk about her ancestors journeying over from Germany. She enjoyed touring the "old homes" to tell tales of how they survived long ago and marveled at their example of endurance.
Growing up on a ranch she knew how to work hard and was not afraid to get her hands dirty. She was a go getter. If she had a task she would get it done way before time and with great efficiency.
Janice was a very strong, independent woman. She was an asset to her church family, her community, and her family. She will be truly missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her nephew Craig Lange of Harper niece Brenda Brown of Harper, great nieces Kelly Wilson and husband Devin, Shanna Crenwelge; great-great nieces and nephews Dawson and Eli Wilson, and Kimberly and Hayden Crenwelge.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Lillie Spaeth, sister Joyce Lange.
Janice will be cremated and a memorial visitation will take place on Thursday January 18 from 5:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. in the Fredericksburg Funeral Home.
A celebration of her life will be held 10:00a.m. on Friday January 19, 2024 at St. James Lutheran Church in Harper with interment of her ashes to follow in the Harper Community Cemetery.
