Jeannie Carol (Gettig) Smothers, 64 of Fredericksburg, Texas passed away in her home on 12 October. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Smothers and by her father, Russell Gettig of Boalsburg, PA. She is survived by her children Travis Graham of Madison, Wisconsin, Melissa Simpson of Kennewick, Washington and Thomas Simpson of Kennewick, Washington. She is also survived by her Mother, Regina Gettig of Boalsburg, Pennsylvania and her brothers, Russell (Barbara) Gettig of Averill Park, New York and Rodney (Dana) Gettig of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania. After her husband Frank passed away she enjoyed helping to care for Dayton Kuhlmann and his wife Mary in Fredericksburg and spending time with her friend Dorothy Umfrid. She also enjoyed caring for her three cats.

A memorial service will be performed at Zion Lutheran Church in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania on a date yet to be determined. Those wishing to give in Jeannie's memory are urged to give to an animal care organization of their choice.
