Obituary

Jerry Dale Holt was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on January 11, 2022.

Jerry was born November 29, 1934 in Santa Anna, Texas, to Roger Holt and Claudia Bull Holt. He lived his early years in Coleman County near Santa Anna. Upon the death of his mother while he was still in high school, Jerry and his two younger siblings went to live with uncle and aunt, Welton Holt and Audrey Bull Holt. Since two brothers had married two sisters, he remained close to both sides of his large, close-knit, and loving extended family. Jerry graduated from Mozelle High School in Coleman County in 1953, and briefly attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene before returning to Coleman where he worked as a route salesman for the local Coca Cola distributor: He later moved to Brownwood where he worked for RC Cola. While working in the RC Cola concession stand at a Brownwood High football game in 1958 he was introduced to local high school senior named Bennie Wilson by mutual friends. They later began dating and they married on June 11, 1960. After their marriage Jerry took oth r jobs in the food sales business and made several moves. They returned to Santa Anna and while living there two sons were born, Jeffrey Dale and Rodney Alan. The young family found their permanent home in Fredericksburg in 1966. The boys began school and Jerry and Bennie were active in school activities and scouting. Shortly after arriving in Fredericksburg they joined the First Baptist Church where Jerry served on many committees and I many positions and served in Sunday School and worked with the youth of the church.          He served as head usher at church and loved greeting everyone as they arrived and was quick to welcome visitors, introduce himself, and visit with them, making them feel at home. He became a deacon of First Baptist Church in 1980 and went to inactive status when his health declined. After his retirement from employment he began driving a school bus; a job he loved as he enjoyed being around children and followed their progress even after they graduated. He also volunteered at Hill Country Needs Council. Jerry was a very outgoing people-person who loved life. He was a strong and loving family man and remained in touch with lots of of his extended family.
