Jimmy H. Yarborough's Obituary
Jimmy Harold Yarborough, age 62, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017, in Fredericksburg, Texas. He was born on March 27, 1955, in Mason, Texas, the son of Betty Ann Gibbs and Homer Gene Yarborough, and was raised by his grandmother, Annie Bell (Armstead) Gibbs. His father died in a car accident on the day of Jimmy's birth.
Jimmy attended school in Mason and one of his favorite pastimes as a teenager was "road hunting." He met the love of his life in Mason and Jimmy and Donna Gail (Keyser) Yarborough were married on August 17, 1975. During the 42 years of marriage, Jimmy did many things including serving as a carpenter, furniture maker, electrician, funeral escort, wedding photographer and reading electric meters for CTEC.
One of his most favorite occupations was serving the Fredericksburg community as a policeman for more than 15 years. He received many trophies at the Police Olympics for his skill as an expert marksman and enjoyed sharing his knowledge as a firearm instructor. Following his career as a policeman, he attended Calvary Theology Seminary and had a Sunday morning radio program where he played gospel music. He loved the Lord and enjoyed preaching. Later in life, Jimmy joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jimmy loved to hunt. Guns were his passion and Jimmy dreamed of going Cape Buffalo hunting in South Africa. He opened a shooting range and, most recently, operated a Pawn Shop in Fredericksburg for 10 years, where he would always have a great collection of guns for sale.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, step-father Bill Boring, aunts and uncles. He is survived by his beloved wife Donna, his half-siblings Frankie Crouch, Susan Dickenson and Tammye Shipp; and aunt Helen (Yarborough) Marshall and her husband Ben, uncle Troy Gibbs plus nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Jimmy was loved by so many and he will be greatly missed!
The family will greet friends 4-6 p.m., Thursday, September 21st, in Fredericksburg Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, September 22nd, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospital, Fredericksburg EMS, or the charity of one's choice.
