Joana Frances
Harrison
Nov 19, 1934 — Jan 11, 2021
Joana Frances (Stephenson) Harrison, 86, was born on November 19, 1934 to Laura and Earvy Stephenson in Houston, Texas. She graduated from San Jacinto High School and attended Minnetex Community Church where she met the man of her dreams, David Harrison, at age 4. They married on July 25, 1953 at Minnetex where the wedding was officiated by Rev. Gordon Whitlock or "Chief" as he was known to the family. Last year, Frances and David celebrated their 67 th anniversary.
From the time she was a young woman, Frances consistently demonstrated a can-do selfless attitude where she put her faith and serving others ahead of her own needs. As a wife and mother of four children, she was always there for her family and lived a Christ-centered life. When they moved to Fredericksburg, Frances and David were part of the original group of believers that founded Faith Baptist Church. Frances was active in the new church and one of her favorite activities was playing the organ which she did for many years at Sunday services. Throughout her life, Frances was a true servant of the Lord.
During their journey together, Frances and David lived in Houston, Dallas and Minden, Louisiana before they settled in the Fredericksburg area. They built a house on a hill with a deck where, on most evenings, they would watch the birds and the beautiful Texas sunset. Many times, Frances and David would sing together as they had many years at the churches where they attended. Family and friends were always welcome.
On Monday, January 11, 2021, Frances was called to heaven and is now cradled in the arms of Jesus. She is survived by her husband, David, her daughters, Sharon Karsten of Houston; Susan Silva and her husband John of Friendswood; Sandra Watson and her husband Don of Pearland; and her son, Paul and his wife Cindy of Fredericksburg. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. When in public with her family, Frances loved to remind David that "We started all this".
Also surviving Frances are her brother Ralph Stephenson and his wife Nancy; sister-in-law Donna Stephenson of Plano; and brother-in-law Paul Harrison and his wife Sally of Fredericksburg. She leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will keep her close in their memory.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents Earvy and Laura Stephenson; brother Charles Stephenson; granddaughter Amy Karsten and son-in-law James Karsten.
We will miss Frances but find comfort in knowing that we will see her again in heaven.
