Obituary

Joanne Howe Klier passed away on Thursday, October 24,2024 at the age of 90. Her life was filled with love, kindness, and service, leaving an enduring legacy for her family and this community. Joanne was born in Blanco, Texas and was grateful for these humble beginnings. She credited her parents, sister, brother, teachers, and church for shaping her into the remarkable woman she became.

On a magical night in December of 1950, love bloomed at a nightclub called Camp Pedernales, where she met Alton Klier. It was love at first sight, and they danced their way into a lifetime of love, a testament to enduring devotion. They created a family, a source of immense joy, including their three daughters Kaye, Kandis, and Kari, and their cherished granddaughter, Hailey. For 70 years, they were inseparable, singing, dancing, traveling, and if you knew them, you know they were always worrying about their girls.

Joanne lived a life of service to her husband, children, and Fredericksburg. She was devoted to Holy Ghost, serving on many of its committees, and singing in the choir. She drove for the Needs Council, and volunteered at the school in many, many ways. Joanne exemplified selflessness, kindness, and grace. She filled her children's lives with wonder, nurturing their love for books, music, and nature. Even in her final days, her thoughts were not of herself, but of others.

In lieu of flowers, Joanne wished for donations to the Needs Council, Food Pantry, Friends of the Library, and Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.

May her legacy live on in the hearts of those she touched and the good deeds inspired by her memory, a reminder to live a life of service, kindness, and love.
