Obituary

Joe Christian Frantzen passed away Monday, October 14 th , at the age of 74.

Joe is survived by his wife, Annie Frantzen of Fredericksburg; 4 children: Chris Frantzen of Pecos, Joanne Frantzen of Dallas, Carl Frantzen & wife Michelle of Manvel, Amanda Oehrlein and husband Nathan of Derwood MD; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; siblings: Patrick Frantzen & wife Cindy of Luckenbach, Betty Hildebran & husband Vic of Uvalde, Alice Segner & husband Dennis of Fredericksburg.

Joe Frantzen was a life-long resident of Luckenbach, Texas. He was a faithful husband, dedicated father, and the best Opa in the whole wide world. He spent his life farming the land, raising kids, serving God and his community.
Joe served in various leadership capacities, including president, of the Young Farmers and Farm Bureau organizations at both the local and state level. He was awarded with the Pioneer Farmer Award from the Gillespie County Farm Bureau. He was a member at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and served on the church council, as a Sunday School Teacher, and a confirmation mentor. He also served on the Central Texas Electric Co-op Board for several years. He enjoyed judging products at the Gillespie County Fair and participated in the antique tractor show and farming demonstration in Stonewall, TX.
His joy in life was spending time with friends and family philosophizing on the complexity of life. He was proudest of his children and his grandchildren and they will miss their "Opa Joe" most of all.

Funeral services for Joe Frantzen will be held 2 p.m., Friday, October 18 th , in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Graveside services will follow in Der Stadt Freidhof.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Thursday, October 17 th in Fredericksburg Funeral Home & 1-2 p.m., Friday, October 18 th in church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society or the charity of one's choice.
