It is with great sadness that the family of  Kurt Grunau announce his passing into heaven on January 20, 2025 at age 96.

Kurt was born on February 24, 1928 in Riga, Latvia.

He Is survived by his son Herbert Walter Grunau (Pamela), daughter Ingrid Marion Grunau Cavanaugh Griffith (Doug), son in law Charles Bradley (daughter Ellen Grunau-Bradley), stepson Jerry Orsak, step daughter Rosmarie (Pixie) Hageman (BillyJo) many grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister inlaw Lilly Grunau and neice Andrea Jungclaus (Frank) and family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Liselotta (Lilo) Grunau (Fromming), wife Ernestine Grunau (Zittzman), daughter Ellen Grunau Bradley and brother Gert Grunau' stepson Tom Orsak.

Kurt worked for GM-Fisher Body in Lansing, Mi  for 30 years- as an exemplary employee he was awarded the employee of the year award.

Kurt was a WWII p o w survivor.

He was an avid gardner, camper, loved the oudoors- any place on the water.

Kurt and his wife, Lilo with their 3 children traveled the country to visit many areas in their camper, as well as enjoyed summers at the cabin on the water.

He also enjoyed world travels via many cruises and trips with his wife Ernestine along with many friends and family members.

Special thanks goes to the The Methodist Hill Country Hospice team members Linda, Laura and Teresa who provided him with exceptional care.

Kurt Grunau was a kind man with a loving heart.

He will be remembered as a true mensch who lived his life with kindness, grace and dignity.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday February 1, 2025 at 11:00a.m in Zion Lutheran Church.
