Obituary

Lem (Bill) W Surghnor, Jr, 80 years old, born January 15, 1942, passed away peacefully at his home in Fredericksburg, Texas on February 2, 2022.  He was with his beloved wife and family during his passing.

He was a loving father and husband and an avid traveler.  He could often be found driving across the country to visit his children and grandchildren who were very important to him.  He enjoyed long drives with his wife while taking in the beautiful scenery along the way.  Visiting Fredericksburg was often a favorite pastime.

Bill truly loved America.  He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 10 years, both as enlisted and a commissioned officer, based in Camps Pendleton and Lejune.  During his service, he was deployed in combat during the Vietnam War as an artillery officer and served our great nation with honor and courage.

Following his military service, his dedicated career included many years' experience in the commercial and personal insurance industry.  Early in his career, he spent many years as a co-owner of Johnson-Surghnor Insurance Company in Temple; which is where he met his wife and soulmate of 40 years, Joyce M. Surghnor.

After moving from Temple, TX to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, he continued his excellence in the insurance industry until his retirement at the age of 65.  The past few years of retirement have been spent happily in Fredericksburg with his loving wife and best friend.  You could often find Bill and Joyce at the local coffee shop visiting with friends.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce M. Surghnor; his daughters, Hoi-Anne Surghnor-Loftin and husband, London Surghnor-Wagner and husband, Lezlie Lynn Redden; his sons, Jeff Redden and wife, Craig Redden and wife; as well as numerous grandchildren, family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents Lem W. Surghnor, Sr. and Dottie Surghnor, both of Belton, Texas.

Bill was a committed husband, father, mentor and friend who would never say "no" and would give the shirt off his back to those in need.    He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Per his wishes, Bill will be cremated with a celebration of his life on Saturday March 26, 2022 from 11:00a.m. - 12:00p.m. at Life Point Church 4501 Hedgecoxe Rd Plano TX 75024
