Lloyd B Harper, 76,  passed away peacefully at his home in Fredericksburg on October 6th, 2023, following a brief illness.   He was born July 13, 1947 in Fredericksburg to James Victor & Minda Faye Harper.  Lloyd was the great-great grandson of Frank Harper, for whom the community of Harper was named.  Lloyd grew up in Harper & graduated from Harper High School in 1965.  He served in the US Army as a Military Policemen with the 981st MP Sentry Dog Company.

Following military service he put himself through college & obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University), and a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from Tarleton State University.  While at Tarleton he met Cindy Johnson, and they were married in 1977;  they have two daughters, Lisa Beth & Christie Anne.

Lloyd worked for the Soil Conservation Service in Ballinger & Weatherford, for University Savings in Blanco and Fredericksburg, and for Charles Schreiner Bank & First National Bank (later Wells Fargo) in Kerrville.  His work with Risk Asset Review & management of large commercial loan relationships took him to bank locations from coast to coast, border to border, & into Alaska.  He retired from Wells Fargo in 2012.

Lloyd enjoyed country music, dancing, barbecues,  genealogy, classic cars, & spending time with family & friends.  He and Cindy also operated a short-term rental in Fredericksburg & a historic family ranch property in Callahan County.

Lloyd was a loving, dedicated and selfless family man. He was as proud of his sons-in-law and grand-daughter as he was his daughters.  He is survived by his wife Cindy & their daughters and families, Lisa, Dan, & Katherine Odom of Lubbock, and Christie & David Storck of San Antonio; sister- in-law Elaine Harper; brother-in-law and sister- in-law Eddie & Weegee Johnson; as well as two aunts & numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Boyd,  & sister Linda.

The family of Lloyd Harper will greet friends 5-7 p.m., Monday, October 9th, in Fredericksburg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 10th, in the fellowship hall of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Graveside services with military honors will follow in Der Stadt Friedhof.

Memorial donations may be made to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center, the Harper Pioneer Museum, Der Stadt Friedhof, or the charity of one's choice.
