Louise Elizabeth Whetstone passed away Wednesday, December 13th, at the age of 91.Louise Elizabeth Grote Whetstone went to be with the Lord Wednesday. December 13, 2017 at the age of 91. Louise was born in Fredericksburg, TX on Dec. 2, 1926 to Alex Grote and Julia Petithory Grote. She was one of 9 children.

Louise graduated from Fredericksburg High School where she was a majorette. She later graduated from Durham's Business School in Austin, TX.

On May 31, 1945, she married Kelso P. Locklin at the age of 18 ½. They had one son- Kenneth and one daughter- Linda. Louise and Kelso enjoyed playing tennis together and later shared the love of tennis with their children who both ended up playing on their high school tennis teams. Louise enjoyed sewing clothes for herself and Linda. She also enjoyed embroidering.
Gardening was a passion for Louise. She always had beautiful flowerbeds wherever she liv ed. Louise loved to play the piano and was also a talented artist. After 23 yrs. of marriage, Louise was widowed in 1968.

Jan. 19, 1970, Louise married Ken R. Pennell. The couple first resided at the Texas coast on a houseboat. Louise was an avid bird watcher and she especially enjoyed watching for many different birds that migrated through the area. The couple moved to Amarillo and stayed there until Louise retired as secretary for the Amarillo School Administration at age 55. From there, they moved to Louise's property that was her part of the Grote family ranch outside of Johnson Cit y. They designed and built their retirement home there. They enjoyed jeep rides to feed the wildlife, super intense Scrabble games and dominoes. They shared their life on the hill until Louise was widowed again in 1997.

In April of 2003 at the age of 77, Louise married Raymond Whet st on e. They had met at the Willow City Emmanuel Gospel Church where Raymond had been Louise's Bible teacher. They enjoyed a cruise to Alaska for their honeymoon. They lived in Raymond's residence until Louise slipped on ice and fractured her ankle. She was admitted to Knopp Nursing & Rehabilitation .
Louise was widowed once again in 2012.

Her son, Kenneth Locklin supervised Louise's care until his death on Aug. 19, 2013. At this point, her daughter Linda L. Ham and granddaughter Melinda L. Ham, moved her first to San Marcos, TX and then later to Legend Oaks Healthcare & Rehabilitation in New
Braunfels, TX.

Louise was loving sister, wife, mother and grandmother and she will be continue to live on in the memories of those who love her.

Louise is survived by her daughter, Linda Ham of San Marcos, granddaughter, Melinda Ham & sister, Helen Hank of San Antonio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Kelso P. Locklin, her second husband Ken R. Pennell, her third husband Raymond L. Whetstone, her son Kenneth Locklin & the following brothers & sister: Herbert, Carlos, Frederick, Ernest, Robert, Richard & Julie Grote.

Funeral services for Louise Whetstone will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16th, in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. William Breen officiating. Private graveside services will follow.
The family will greet friends 1-2 p.m. Saturday before the service.
