Lucy Ann Kizer Arnold was born October 10,1930 and died on February 12, 2023 at age of 92. She was a life-long member of the Methodist Church having been baptized in Travis Park Methodist Church in San Antonio, attended First United Methodist Church and Casa View Methodist Church in Dallas and at time of death was a member of Fredericksburg United Methodist Church

Lucy Ann was a graduate of Brackenridge High School in San Antonio where as a member of the Purple Jackets Drill Team she cheered the football team to the 1947 State Championship. She attended Trinity University in San Antonio her first two years of college, then completed her Bachelor's degree at SMU in Dallas. After college, Lucy Ann was employed as an elementary school teacher in the Dallas ISO. Dr. E. D. Walker, who was in charge personnel, said he remembered Lucy Ann because she was one of the few applicants he ever had who requested assignment to a school serving economically disadvantaged children. Her future husband, Jack Arnold, thanked Dr. Walker for keeping her in Dallas, because in 1954 the Navy sent him to be in charge of Naval Officer Procurement in Dallas. Their prior acquaintance from Travis Park Church was resumed and resulted in marriage in April 1954. In 1957 Lucy Ann took leave from teaching to give her full attention to raising three sons, Jim, Mike and Kent. As the children got older, Lucy Ann resumed her teaching career. She had become interested in parent interaction with young children. She began teaching preschool children and their parents in a small private school. She enjoyed teaching parents along with their children and this experience took her back to school. This time the school of choice was the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas where she earned the M.S.S.W.-A.C.S.W. degree. This led her to the next career level as Family Counselor with the Salesmanship Camp for Disturbed Boys. In this role she worked to educate and support the parents of the boys enrolled in the Camp program. In 1989 Lucy Ann was invited to join the private practice of a fellow family counselor in Fredericksburg, Texas. Having loved the Hill Country since childhood and having a willing husband, the move was made. She enjoyed her private practice in Fredericksburg until retiring in 2015. Lucy Ann was a person who loved life and family and who as a Family Counselor helped many families through the life problems which can be overwhelming.

Lucy Ann is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jack Edward Arnold, sister Jeannette Crawford, sons James (Jim) Arnold and wife Teri, Michael (Mike) Arnold and wife Renee, Dr. Kenton (Kent) Arnold and wife Carroll. And by grandchildren Jennifer Arnold Gillis and husband Campbell, Jay Arnold and Austria Arnold, and nieces Barbara Jones. Martha Ann Crawford and Jean Crawford.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday March 18, 2023 at 1:00p.m. in Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hill Country Needs Council, Good Samaritan Center or the charity of your choice.
