Obituary

Marjorie (Marjie) Mae Gleditsch, nee Blomgren, a resident of Fredericksburg and previously of Comfort, TX passed away March 18, 2021 at the age of 79 from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.  Marjie was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1941 and grew up in Chicago in a Swedish neighborhood.  Marjie attended North Park University in Chicago and following her academic studies obtained a position in the photofinishing department of Eastman Kodak Company, a position she held for nearly 30 years and which eventually brought her to work and live in Dallas, TX.  Because of her dedication and talent in photofinishing, she held many positions within the company, excelling especially as instructor and achieving the position of manager.  Then, in mid-life something wonderful happened, a love from many years ago came from Sweden to find her and after four days together they decided to marry.  Marjie said, this was like the saying, "Once In A While, Right In The Middle Of Ordinary Life, LOVE Gives Us A Fairytale."  Although their marriage was later in life, they had 28 wonderful years together.

Marjie is survived by her sister Brenda Lehmann, her niece and niece's husband of Austin, Audrey Lehmann Richard and David Richard and two grandnephews, Theodore and Walter Richard.  Caregivers, Barbara Segner, Alan Barrera, Olivia Garza, and Dorothy Klaerner Moellering gave her much love and care for several years and much comfort as she neared the end of her life.

Since Marjie loved animals, especially baby animals, and was also an advocate of "spay and neuter," memorials may be given in her memory to Pedernales Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) of Fredericksburg, the City of Fredericksburg Animal Shelter and Fredericksburg SPCA.
