Mervel La Don McLain Adams Dittmar, age 80, of Fredericksburg, Texas, passed away on December 2, 2023.

Mervel was born on August 22, 1943, in Houston, Texas. After graduating high school, she went on to live and work in College Station where she first met her future husband, Roger Wayne Dittmar in 1964. After dating for a summer, Roger left for military service. While the couple separated, they would beautifully reunite decades later in 1982. Mervel and Roger were married on July 21, 1983, in Plano, Texas. Mervel then relocated to Fredericksburg with her daughters.

Mervel would go on to be a wife, mother, and homemaker. She often worked at a local store where she sold her arts and craft. Mervel was truly talented in all things artistic. Her interior design was stunning, her parties and special events were spectacular, and her many art projects were inspired and beautiful. She was an amazing seamstress as well.

Mervel was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Myrtie McLain, and sisters June Shriver and Wanda Scaggs. She is survived by her husband, Roger Wayne Dittmar; daughters April Lea Adams and Tracy Laine Adams Simmons; sister Nell Maxwell and her husband Robert Maxwell; granddaughter Sarah Hitzfeld Gibson, her husband Trey Gibson and their sons Jace and Weston Gibson; granddaughter Hannah Hitzfeld; and grandsons Caleb and Levi Simmons.

There will be no service or visitation. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
