Moritz
Sep 16, 1934 — Apr 6, 2021
Mr. Ned Marcus Moritz of Fredericksburg, Texas passed away on April 6, 2021 at the age of 86 years. He was born September 16, 1934 in Fredericksburg, Texas to parents Robert Moritz and Vera Kolmeier Moritz. Ned married Joyce Grona on June 3, 1961 in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Grona Moritz, parents Robert and Vera Moritz, brothers Roy Moritz and Myron Moritz, sisters Carlette Bernhard and Betty Pfiester.
Ned is survived by his three children and their spouses, Russell and Lori Moritz, Shannon and Melissa Moritz, and Stacy and Neil Graff; five grandchildren, Amanda Tipps and husband Will, David Moritz and wife Kylie, Sarah Graff, Rebekah Graff, and Megan Moritz; great grandson, James Russell Tipps; and a brother, Roger Moritz.
Ned graduated from St. Mary's High School in Fredericksburg in 1953 and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture from Texas A&I College in 1963.
Ned served in the Army from January 12, 1955 to December 24, 1956 in Germany where he was selected to be an aide, chauffer, and interpreter for a Major General in the 4 th Infantry Division. As a veteran, he was proud of being able to serve his country.
He retired from the United States Department of Agriculture in 1986, after 28 years of service. After that he was involved in a wireless cable business and retired again in 1996. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman; he loved nothing more than to take his grandchildren fishing on his bass boat. He also enjoyed hunting at his son-in-law's family ranch in Hondo, Texas, where he spent many pleasurable hours. Ned was a generous, devoted family man, always putting his wife and children first. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
The family would like to thank the staff at Knopp Retirement Center, Knopp Healthcare & Rehab, and Votive Hospice for their care of our father.
