Norman C. Koger, age 91, devoted husband and loving father, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 21, 2020. He was born the son of Henry Norman Koger and Mary Lillian King on February 6, 1929 in Dallas, Texas. His early years were spent near Raymondville, TX.
Working for Halliburton Oil, he met the love of his life Jeanette Knopp in Hebbronville, Texas in 1953 and they were married in 1955.
He enlisted in the United states army in 1955 and proudly served his country for 23 years including 2 tours in Vietnam, earning a bronze star, and retiring as a Command Sergeant Major in 1978. During this time, he also earned a B.S degree from Sam Houston State University. After retiring from the army, he and his family moved to Huntsville, Texas. He worked for the Huntsville Independent School District, retiring in 1994. Upon retirement he moved to Fredericksburg Texas, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and supporting the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
He is survived by his beloved and loving wife, Jeanette Koger; his brother Jerry Koger of Houston, TX; 4 children Norman Jr. & Tina Koger of Buda, TX , Brett & Rosalie Koger of Buda, TX, Kathleen Koger-Burson & Homer Burson of Fredericksburg, TX, Derek Koger and Morgan Miars of San Francisco, CA; and numerous grandchildren.
Always putting others before himself, he was truly loved and will be truly missed. The family will be holding a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
