Obituary

Pansy Louise Martyn of Kerrville TX (previously of Fredericksburg TX) entered
heaven on September 26, 2016, at the age of 92. Born in Dallas TX, June 11, 1924, to
Marion and Velma Akers McConnell, she graduated from San Jacinto High School in
Houston in 1941 and entered the University of Houston. On July 23, 1943, Pansy
married Henry "Hank" J Martyn, Jr, the "proudest" member of the FIGHTING TEXAS
AGGIE CLASS OF 1943, and together they raised five children.
By example, Pansy taught her children to love God and others with all their heart.
She never met a stranger and her friends quickly became part of her family. In
Fredericksburg, she served as a Volunteer Police Officer, an Ambassador for The
Chamber of Commerce, and was active in The Quilt Guild, The Newcomers Club, The
Cattle Women's Association, The Hill Country Youth Ranch and The Hill Country
Evangelical Free Church. In addition, she was a member of the Dallas Southern
Memorial Association, the Kerrville Quilt Guild, The Houston Quilt Guild, and was
past president of Women in Rotary in Dallas. She especially enjoyed serving in the
"dog therapy" program at the Kerrville VA Hospital with her golden retriever, Jake.
During her lifetime, she excelled in a variety of pursuits from building homes to
designing and manufacturing a clothing line, TEXAS STAR DUDS. She was most
proud of her embroidered quilt of the US Presidents that she donated to the
Hillsdale College in Washington, DC.
Pansy is survived by her children: Jay Martyn and wife Lynda of Dallas, John Martyn
and wife Cheryl of Greenville, Nancy Martyn and companion Jim Place of San
Antonio, Mac Martyn and wife Jill of Fredericksburg, Bruce Martyn and wife Sonny
of Breckenridge, CO; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Hank and sister Mary Jane Hatfield. The
family would like to thank Carol Craig and Pansy's many friends for their loving care
of their mother.

A celebration of Pansy's life will be held on October 15, 10 AM at Hill Country
Evangelical Free Church, 107 E. Lower Crabapple, Fredericksburg, TX 78624, with a
reception following.
