Preston Eugene Wilson, 94, entered his eternal rest on Sunday, December 11, 2022, in Fredericksburg, TX.
Born in Houston on October 31, 1928, to Percy and Venita Wilson, he was the couple's 5th and last child. His early years of school were spent in a one-room schoolhouse in Barker, TX, near Cypress, then the family moved back to Houston Heights where he graduated from Reagan High School. He continued his studies at the University of Houston, graduating and beginning his career as a teacher in the Spring Branch school district. He later became a draftsman working in a Houston stone company.
In 1974 he moved to Fredericksburg where he raised sheep and enjoyed the tranquility of country life. He was married to his first wife, Mary Jane (née Riggle) until she passed away in 2002. He later married Mary Heidtke on July 25, 2009. He was an ardent animal lover, served on the board of directors of the Golden Hub, volunteered as an usher and greeter at the Fredericksburg Theater, was a member of the Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance and the Fredericksburg Music Club, and was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Mr. Wilson is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, brothers Bert George and Elroy Wilson, sister Alice Hocher, niece Kay Weimar, and nephews David, Donald, and Tommy Wilson. He is survived by his wife Mary Heidtke Wilson, her children Jon and Kenan Heidtke, and Anne and Bob Pfennig and their families. He is also survived by niece Carol Wilson Barnes and Mary Jane Hocher, nephew Mark Hocher, Sr. and wife Betty, and two great-nephews David Wilson and Mark Hocher, Jr.
