Reinhold Walter (R. W.) Sagebiel died peacefully on April 6, 2024 at the age of 90.

He was born in the hill country of Fredericksburg and was the youngest of 10 siblings.  He cherished his roots and often reminisced about riding a donkey or horse over the river and through the woods to the small schoolhouse at Cherry Spring.  He graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1952.

R. W. was passionate about raising and showing sheep and found joy in nurturing these animals.  He ventured into each deer season with great expectations.  He was an avid fisherman and found peace within the great outdoors.  He took pride in raising cattle into his late 80s.

His journey led him to the DFW metroplex where he first installed elevators.  He navigated selling motor homes, boats, and cars.  R. W. embraced the entrepreneurial spirit as he opened the Yellow Rose RV.  A tradition of sending yellow roses to each buyer represented his personal connection and the importance of showing appreciation to others.

His love of roses was almost as much as his love for food.  He approached each meal with great enthusiasm.  He giggled as he told the story of sneaking out to get extra snacks while in cardiac rehab.  He cherished playing 42, BINGO, and checkers.  He proclaimed to be the undefeated champion of checkers.  He thrived on being active and rarely sat down.  The two things notable for sitting included the Dallas Cowboys and church.

In all aspects of his life, R. W. epitomized the values of family and faith.  His devotion to Lou of 66 years is a testimony to his dedication.  Playful antics and mischievous pranks were in fashion between the kids and their dad.  Above all, R. W. held a deep and unwavering faith in the Lord, which was the cornerstone of his life.  His relationship with God was the guiding light that illuminated his path, providing strength, comfort and guidance through each and every triumph and trial.  He truly believed in the power of prayer.  He had a compassion for the needy and extended assistance to those less fortunate.

Although R. W. is no longer with us in body, his presence will continue to be felt in precious memories.  May we find comfort in knowing that he has found eternal peace with the Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Gussie Lou Sagebiel, children Rebecca Sagebiel Kendrick, Stephen Sagebiel and wife Holly, sister Elsie Koennecke, grandchildren Amber Kendrick, Hannah Kendrick, Joshua Kendrick, Emma Sagebiel,  Nicolas Sagebiel Kathryn Foshee and Gabriel Foshee Emily Foshee.

He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Ida Sagebiel, siblings Viola,Paula, Ewald, Esther, Ruben, Hildegard, Nolan and Erwin.

Acting as pallbearers are; Stephen Sagebiel, Nicolas Sagebiel, Joshua Kendrick, Ruben Sagebiel, Ralph Koennecke, and Summer Sagebiel.
