Obituary

Rita Jo Keiger, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed peacefully on the morning of September 30, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in her home, surrounded by her daughters and while her beloved Tim McGraw's music played. Born on October 4, 1950, in Hazel Park, Michigan, to Tom Maisano and Doris Yates (later Williams), Rita lived a life defined by love, resilience, and devotion to family.

Rita is survived by her daughters Jo Lee DeWolf, Maghan Ellington and husband Matthew Ellington, Kaitlin Moore and husband Dustin Moore, Sarah Zibbell and husband Ron Zibbell, and stepdaughter Jaymie Bruce.

She was the loving grandmother of Gibson Davis and partner Georgia Parker, Hayden Ellington, Cooper Ellington, Allison Moore and partner JR Propp, Riley Moore, Austin Moore, Savannah Zibbell, Alissa Zibbell, Jonathan Zibbell, Dustin Zibbell, and Emma Zibbell. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Mabree Moore, Truman Moore, and Mateo Gonzalez.

Rita is also survived by her brother Paul Maisano and wife Vickey Maisano, sister Rhonda Maisano-Hazlett and husband Dave Hazlett, and sister Jackie Williams.

She was preceded in death by her father Tom Maisano, mother Doris Williams, and brother Jeff Maisano.

Rita had a deep love for gardening—always stopping to smell the flowers—and for the state of Texas, often saying she "got here as quick as she could." Yet above all, her greatest pride and joy were her daughters and grandchildren. Her kindness, humor, and fierce dedication to family touched everyone who knew her.

She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, love, faith, and family that will continue through those who loved her most.

A celebration of Rita's life will be held at a later date.
