Robert Ellis
Morhart
Jul 8, 1939 — Aug 24, 2022
Robert Ellis Morhart, age 83, passed away on August 24, 2022, in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Robert ("Bob") was born on July 8, 1939, in Tulsa Oklahoma, the son of George Ellis Morhart and Elizabeth Morhart . The first born, and only son, with four sisters whom he loved, and tormented through his teen years. With a keen intellect and a passion for knowledge, he attended Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri, the University of Missouri at Kansas City where he received his Doctor of Dental Science with specialty in periodontics, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology's post doctorate program.
Robert had a long career at the VA Hospital in Miami, Florida starting as a research associate in 1973 and retiring in 2006 as the Director of Dentistry. He also enjoyed teaching and was an Associate Professor at University of Miami College of Medicine and the Department of Dental Hygiene at Miami-Dade Community College. Teaching allowed him to share his knowledge and be surrounded by young people, both of which he really enjoyed.
Upon retirement, Robert left Miami with his wife of 58 years, Suzanne Fairbank Morhart, to Fredericksburg, Texas, where he enjoyed 16 years of retirement.
Robert loved to vacation with his family anywhere with mountains and fast running water. He spent his free time researching and investing in the stock market, making us all wonder if he should have had a second career. If his second career would not have been finance, perhaps then as a master chef pairing great meals with fine wine and expensive cigars.
Robert is survived by his wife, Suzanne Fairbank Morhart, two daughters Michele Schwitalla and Amy Kelly, sisters Marilyn Keefer, Elizabeth Ann Simms, and Margaret Morhart, his four grandchildren (who knew him as "Papa"), Emily and Michael Schwitalla, and Graham and Nash Kelly. He was preceded in death by his parents and youngest sister, Carol Louise Kirykowicz. He is also survived by his two sons-in law, James Wade Schwitalla and David Kelly, both of whom loved, respected, and learned from him.
