Obituary

Robert Louis Walter was born on November 17, 1936, to Robert Clark Walter and Otelia Bertha Leist Walter in Fredericksburg, Texas.  He passed away on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, at the age of 85 years.  The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2022, at the gazebo in Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Robert attended kindergarten through fourth grade in Tyler, Texas, fifth grade through high school graduation in Fredericksburg, and one year at Texas Lutheran College in Seguin, Texas.  During his high school years, he was active in FFA and enjoyed showing calves and capons in the Fredericksburg and San Antonino stock shows.

On November 23, 1957, he was married to Bambie Marie Pehl in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, Texas.  They were blessed with two daughters.  The older is Barbara Marie, married to Thomas Wayne Segner.  They have one daughter, Brittney Nicole, married to Alex Watson, and they have one daughter, Lois Bambie Watson.  The younger daughter is Sandra Ann, married to Douglas Dean Ahrens.  They have three daughters – Heather Ashley, married to Brian Ray Falting; Tiffany Rose Ahrens; and Amy Andrea Ahrens.

Robert is also survived by 2 sisters, Ellen Womack and husband Dr. William, their 3 sons, Dr. William Brian Womack, Brent Robert Womack and Brad Womack;  Vernell Crow and her daughter Melissa Crow.

Robert's interest in cattle led him to own cattle and enjoy ranching and hunting his entire life.  He began working with his grandfather, Albert Walter, making concrete pipes, water troughs, and septic tanks.  He expanded the business to sell metal pipe and building materials here in Fredericksburg and was a prolific builder of custom homes in Fredericksburg and the surrounding area.

Graveside service will take place on Friday April 22, 2022 at 10:00am in the Family Chapel in Greenwood Cemetery wit Rev. Ray Tiemann officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30a.m. to 10:00a.m. in The Family Chapel at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church Building Fund, Willow City VFD or the charity of your choice.
