Obituary

Rudy Ahrens passed away July 24th at the age of 85.

Rudy is survived by his wife Alvis Ahrens, daughter Amy Geistweidt and husband David, son Curtis Ahrens, 2 grandchildren: Jacob and Sarah Geistweidt and siblings Vernell Grenwelge of Llano, William Ahrens and wife Marilyn of Austin, Lillian Eckhardt and husband Cletus of Fair Oaks Ranch and Carol Meador of Fredericksburg.

Rudy was born March 5, 1939, in Gillespie County, to Sylvester and Wanda Crenwelge Ahrens. He married Alvis Lollar March 4, 1967, in Christ Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Norman Ahrens and sister Marian Armstrong.

Rudy served in the U.S. Navy and spent a career as a heavy equipment operator, primarily at the Fredericksburg Gypsum Mine.

The family will greet friends 5-7 p.m., Sunday, July 28th in Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, July29th, in Christ Lutheran Church at Cherry Spring, with Reverends Ron Windecker and Mark Ward Officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Shawn Land, Kenny Priess, Jimmy Martin, Jaime Gonzalez, Keith Schneider and Jacob Geistweidt.

Honorary pallbearers are Ramon Gorea and Glendine Land, Troy Ahrens, Kenneth Garza.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society or the charity of one's choice.
