Obituary

Theresa Dorthea Rode, aka Granny, of Cherry Spring, passed away Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, at the age of 88.

Theresa was born on Sunday, January 29, 1933 to Theobald and Meta Lange in Fredericksburg, Texas.  She was the youngest of five daughters.  On April 11, 1953, she married Andrew Rode.  They spent their 62 years together on their ranch in Cherry Spring where she continued to live after his passing.  She played basketball in school and passed this pastime down to her grandchildren where she could be found playing many rounds of "Horse" and pick up games in the front driveway.  She also enjoyed playing games and always allowed the grandchildren or great-grandchildren to pick which game to play.  Theresa worked most of her life in some capacity as a secretary. She was a giver!  She gave of her time to her family, friends, church, and work friends.  She was also very independent...not wanting to leave her home on the ranch and not wanting to bother anyone with problems she may incur.

Theresa is survived by one son and one daughter, Russell Rode and Kay Schlaudt.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Kandis Pyka and husband Paul of Fredericksburg, Timon Keller of Fredericksburg, Tabitha Rode of Houston, Leonard Schlaudt of Bryan, Daisha Patranella and husband Mark of Caldwell, and Kendra Schlaudt of Montgomery.  In addition, she is also survived by her greatest joys, her great-grandchildren, Amie, Andrew, and Addie Pyka, Capri Keller, and Luke and Madilyn Patranella.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Rode, her parents, Theo and Meta Lange, and four sisters, the oldest who died infancy, Flora Ray, Elise Itz and Anita Itz.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 31st from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be on Monday, November 1st, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church in Cherry Spring with Pastor Mark Ward officiating.  Interment will follow in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Cherry Spring.
