Walter Vinson Barwise of Mason Texas has gone home to be with the Lord. He passed peacefully on Monday October 17, 2016 in Fredericksburg Texas at the age of 80.

Walter is survived by his son Dr. Britt Barwise and his wife Christy Barwise of Port Aransas, his two cherished grandchildren Kylee Ann Barwise and Mason Thomas Barwise also of Port Aransas, Texas and his sister Patricia Hardage of Little Rock Arkansas. He is joined again in Heaven with his beloved wife JoAnn Barwise, his sons Brad Samuel Barwise, and Bert Thomas Barwise, his brother Tommy Barwise and his parents Thomas and Ruby Barwise.

Walter was born on January 28, 1936 in Electra Texas to Thomas and Ruby(Dudley) Barwise. He graduated from Electra High School, where he earned the highest honors for his efforts and served as the President of the Agricultural program. Also while attending Electra High School, he was selected by the Fort Worth Star Telegraph as the All State Honorary Mention for his achievements in football. He began his studies at MidWestern State University in Whichita Falls Texas and completed his studies at the University of Texas in Austin where graduated with a Liberal Arts degree in 1962. While at the University of Texas he met his college sweetheart, JoAnn Brandenberger who he married in Mason Texas in 1960. Walter was a talented businessman who worked for Mobil Oil, Sunday House Foods and Black and Decker and was honored multiple times over for his excellent work and was consistently at the top of his field.

Walter's greatest accomplishments in life were most certainly the three sons that he raised with his beloved JoAnn over their 54 years of marriage, Britt Vincent, Brad Samuel and Bert Thomas. He and JoAnn settled down in Fredericksburg Texas where their children attended school, and they were very active in ranching and the Hilda community. Walter set about teaching them his love of ranching, agriculture and of course, football. His children remember him as a dedicated father who encouraged them to pursue their dreams and taught them to be good hearted men who always work hard toward their goals in life.

Walter is fondly remembered as a loving husband and father. He is also very deeply missed by his two grandchildren Kylee and Mason who cherished their visits, and holidays spent at Gram and Gramp's house at the Ranch. His memory forever lives on in both of them.

A funeral is scheduled for Friday October 21st at 11:00 at, in the Family Chapel of Greenwood Cemetery, with Rev.Wade Powell officiating.
