Wayne Charles Meier, 76, of Fredericksburg, TX, passed away Friday, January 3, 2020 in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Meier was born November 9, 1943, in Fredericksburg, the son of Rubin Meier and Dolores Gottschalt Meier.
As a lifelong resident of the Morris Ranch Community, he attended TLC, Texas A&M, and graduated from the now, Texas State University, with a BS in Biology in 1966. He taught middle school at South San Jr. High, served in the US Army Reserves, and moved back home to farm and ranch. With an entrepreneurial spirit, he grew large gardens and started the brand, "Texas Wild", making jams and jellies out of anything edible and native to Texas.
He was a founding member and served two terms as President of the Fredericksburg Optimist Club and was an inaugural member of the Go Texan Program.
Mr. Meier is survived by one daughter, Stefanie Meier Cowley and husband Kevin of Helotes, one son, Dustin Meier and wife Victoria of Fredericksburg and two grandchildren, Tyler Cowley and Berklie Meier.
He is also survived by the mother of his children, Carol Goodrich Meier and sisters, Joyce True and husband Bill and Linda McCann all of Fredericksburg, niece and nephews.
Mr. Meier was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 17th at 2:00pm in the Fredericksburg Funeral Home chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National MS Society, Bethany Lutheran Church, or the charity of choice.
