Rev. Dr. William H. Breen of Fredericksburg passed away on October 27, 2025 at the age of 88. He was born in Sioux Falls SD to John and Sylvia Helgerson Breen.

Bill is survived by his wife Julia Walker Breen; children and their spouses Eric and wife Kim, Kari and husband Derek, Greg and wife Geli, and Sarah; step children and their spouses Preston and wife Julia, Michael and wife Peggy, Makayla and husband Charles; grandchildren Kyle, Carson, Claudia, David, Samantha; great-grandchild Jordan and brother Merlin.

He is preceded in death by his first wife Ethel Phillip Breen, his parents John and Sylvia; son Michael Chad, siblings Eddie, and Marcella.

Bill was born January 24, 1937, in Sioux Falls SD, to John and Sylvia Helgerson Breen. He attended High School in Clark SD. He then attended Augustana College, a church college, followed by seminary training at Luther Seminary in St. Paul MN. While there he met and later married Bernice Evenson. He later married Ethel Phillip. After many years and many calls, Bill decided to retire. He purchased a 40' motor home and traveled extensively for a few years before deciding he was ready to work again. He accepted a call to Trinity Lutheran in Stonewall and retired again after 2 ½ years. After Ethel's death, he met and married Julia Walker.

The family will greet friends 4-6p.m. Thursday, October 30th in Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held 1:00p.m., Friday, October 31st in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the Noxville Cemetery
