William (Bill) Armentrout Jr, age 89, was sent to his eternal home on August 29th, 2025, in Fredericksburg, TX. He was born August 5th, 1936 in Christine, Texas to William Sr and Nell Karcher Armentrout. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ann Armentrout as well as his older sister Jane and younger brother Pat.
Bill and Ann have two sons, Bob (Wife Janine) and Jim (Wife Theresa), four grandsons (Bob, Bill, Patrick, and David), as well as 8 great-grandchildren.
Bill began teaching and coaching at Fulmore Jr. High in Austin in 1958. He became an assistant principal in 1966 and principal in 1971. He remained at Fulmore until 1986 when he was assigned to open Covington Middle School. Bill retired in 1991 after 33 years in A.I.S.D. Bill was honored to be selected as Administrator of the year at both Fulmore in 1975 and Covington in 1988.
In 2001 Ann and Bill moved to Fredericksburg. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, P.C.A.A., Pioneer Museum, Grapetown Shooting Club, and Gillespie Retired teachers, holding offices in most groups. Bill enjoyed camping and traveling throughout his life. After retirement, Ann & Bill traveled in R.V.'s through all 48 states and most of Canada. Additionally, they continued to enjoy traveling in the U.S., Japan, and Europe by car, plane, as well as sailing on 24 cruises.
Bill was an avid golfer and loved playing at Lady Bird G.C. with the Senior Men's Golf Assn. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing in Texas, Colorado, and Wyoming. He was also an avid woodworker, crafting much of his own furniture.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 19th, at Zion Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg Visitation will take place from 1p.m. – 2p.m. prior to the service.
