William (Bill) F. Marker, III, 84, of Fredericksburg, Texas, passed away December 6, 2019.

Bill was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on December 14, 1934. He was the son of William F. Marker, II and Nellie Harelson Marker. He attended school in Shawnee and later joined the Air Force. While in the Air Force, he served in Korea and was later stationed in Lake Charles, Louisiana where he met the love of his life, Irene Long Marker. Bill and Irene married on February 23, 1957. They moved to Houston, Texas where they lived for 46 years before moving to Fredericksburg in 2003. While living in Houston, Bill worked for Trans-Texas Airways, which later became Texas International and then Continental Airlines. He was an expert aircraft technician. Bill had a life-long love of airplanes and anything related to them.

Bill was a devout Christian and always served in the churches he attended. He taught his children what it truly means to love and serve God. Bill became a deacon of Freeway Manor Baptist Church in Houston and served in that capacity for many years. He also served on the Prison Ministry Team at Sagemont Church in Houston for several years before moving to Fredericksburg and serving as an usher, singing in the Senior Choir, and serving on the Benevolence Committee at First Baptist Church.

Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene, two children, Gary (Cindy) Marker of Friendswood, Texas, Sherry (Lee) Stubblefield of Fredericksburg, two sisters, Wynona Pierman of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Wanda McKivor of Bothell, Washington, four grandsons, Chris (Amanda) Stubblefield, Shane (Heather) Stubblefield, Curtis (Kate) Stubblefield, Aaron (Heather) Marker, eight great-grandchildren, "adopted" daughter, Janet Mueller, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William F. Marker, II and Nellie Marker and a sister, Dorothy Peterson.

Bill's memorial service will be on December 18, 2019 at 11 am at First Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, with visitation starting at 10 am. A private committal service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill's name may be made to First Baptist Church of Fredericksburg, Big Springs Ranch for Children at Leakey, Texas, Hill Country Hospice in Fredericksburg or the charity of your choice.
